2009 CASLE Conference in Tanzania

Introduction

Tanzania expects to host a Conference of the Commonwealth Association of Surveying and Land Economy (CASLE) on 29th and 30th June 2009. The Conference is jointly organized by Tanzania Institution of Valuers and Estate Agents (TIVEA), Institution of Surveyors Tanzania (IST) and Commonwealth Association of Surveyors and Land Economy (CASLE). The general public is invited to attend this 2-day Conference.

Conference Papers are invited from all interested authors. The papers should address the main theme and sub-themes of the Conference

The Main Theme of the Conference

EQUITABLE ACCESS TO LAND IN AFRICA – THE RIGHTS OF WOMEN, ORPHANS AND MARGINALIZED COMMUNITIES

Sub-themes

  1. Disadvantaged members of the Society
    • Rights of: Women, Children, HIV Victims, Minority Communities (San, Hadzabe, Pigmy, etc)
  2. Land Use Conflicts
    • Pastoralists vis a vis Farmer
    • Communities vis a vis Investors (commercial farmers and mining companies)
    • Community vis a vis the State- in Conservation lands and Development Projects
  3. Land Expropriation
    • Compulsory acquisition
    • Resettlement
  4. Climate Change
    • Effects on land rights of vulnerable communities

Registration Fee

  • Participants: Tshs. 200,000 for Local Participants; OR USD 200 for Others
  • Student Participants: Tshs 50,000 Local students OR USD 50 for others

Expected Participants and Resource Persons

All IST and TIVEA Members, Quantity Surveyors, Physical Planners, Economists, Architects, Lawyers, Geographers, etc; indeed the doors are open. You may wish to participate as a resource person presenting a paper or as an audience only. Please register your interest with the IST or TIVEA Secretary General as soon as you can.
